Hoggs & More
Researching family history is fun and rewarding.
I became interested in my family's history after listening to endless stories that my dad used to tell me. He came from a very large family, yet he knew a lot about each person in the family.
My cousin, Tammy Stanley, became interested in hosting the family reunion after attending a reunion at which everybody seemed bored. Instead of just having the family get together in a large room and stare at each other, Tammy put her heart and soul into making sure everyone had a good time. At every reunion she distributed an updated family history from data we receive from family members, research groups, and individual research. Tammy no longer hosts the reunions, but it's thanks to her efforts that we have some of the documentation that we have.
Research Tips
Be sure to evaluate the source of your information. Remember, you can't believe everything you read!
Remember, most everyone has two family names: your father's, but also your mother's. Don't feel you must restrict your research to just your paternal family tree.
Investigate all possible spellings of your family names - some names have evolved and changed over the years.
Research DATES along with NAMES - many families used the same names several times.
